Since the launch of the Pony, developed with its own technology, Hyundai Motor Company has been a pioneer in the Korean automotive industry. Among its global production bases, the longest-serving overseas plant has been located in İzmit, Kocaeli, since 1997.
As one of Türkiye’s leading automotive manufacturers, Hyundai Motor Türkiye began operations on September 20, 1997. The production facility established in İzmit has become Hyundai Motor Company’s longest-serving overseas plant outside Korea.
Initially launched with a capacity of 50,000 units, the plant has consistently grown over the years, reaching a total production of 197,000 vehicles in 2025. So far, 3,36 million vehicles have been produced. Recognized among Hyundai Motor Group’s global plants for its high contribution to customer satisfaction and quality, the İzmit plant was awarded the “5-Star Quality Award.”
