Hyundai has published its 2026 Sustainability Report, highlighting its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, achievements, and future goals. Through these reports, which have been published annually since 2003, the company continues to transparently share its sustainability performance with global stakeholders.
The report emphasizes Hyundai’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. It also highlights that electric vehicle sales increased by 27% year-over-year, reaching 962,000 units, while participation and engagement in the company’s employee culture survey, involving 120,000 employees, have increased for the third consecutive year.
Commenting on the report, Hyundai Motor Company CEO José Muñoz stated, “Hyundai continues its transformation from a traditional automaker into a high-tech global mobility leader,” and noted that all Hyundai models sold in Europe will have an electric version by 2027.
Other key highlights of the report include the achievement of the RE100 target across operations in Europe, North America, and India, internationally recognized accomplishments in product safety, and continued progress in corporate governance practices.
Key Highlights from HMTR
- In 2025, 100% of electricity consumption was covered through renewable energy certificates.
- Costs were reduced through waste segregation, waste reduction activities, and reuse initiatives.
- Approximately 38% of total water consumption was supplied through water sourced from the Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), increasing efficiency through alternative resources.
- HMTR aims to expand marine litter collection initiatives across Türkiye.
- The company targets the cumulative collection of 400 tons of marine litter by 2027.
